Enrolment - Foundation Stepping Up Program

Ripponlea Primary School's ‘Stepping Up’ transition program endeavours to familiarise students with the settings and expectations of their new year level.

‘Stepping Up’ from Kinder to Foundation

Kindergarten students enrolled at the school are invited to attend five sessions to help orientate them with our school environment. Whilst attendance at all stepping-up sessions is not compulsory, it is strongly encouraged.

The ‘Stepping Up’ program engages the children in a range of enjoyable play-based activities and includes story-time, craft and singing. During this time, parents are also invited to attend information sessions explaining how Ripponlea operates as a school; how you can assist your child with their learning and development; and how you and your family can become involved with the wider school community.

Our Year 4 and 5 students who will be ‘buddies’ to the Foundation students in the following year, meet the new Foundation students in the last 'Stepping-Up' session. The Year 4/5 and Foundation students build links so that on their first day at school, the new Foundation children are greeted with a familiar face in the schoolyard. This first simple step is a comforting way to help children settle into school.

‘Stepping Up’ sessions are conducted in Term 4.
