How to Enrol at Ripponlea Primary School

We welcome enrolments across all year levels and are excited to support you through the process of joining our school community. Please follow the steps below for Foundation (Prep) enrolment in 2026:

 

Step 1: Find Your Local School

  • Use the Find my School tool to identify your designated neighbourhood school and other nearby government schools.

Our school zone is available on findmyschool.vic.gov.au which hosts the most up-to-date information on school zones in Victoria.

 

Students residing within our school zone are guaranteed a place at our school, which is determined based on your permanent residential address.

 

Our school manages enrolments using the Placement Policy to ensure that students have access to their designated neighbourhood school.

 

Please note:
Ripponlea Primary School is able to offer enrolment to out-of-zone families based on year-to-year circumstances and school capacity.

 

We encourage you to speak directly with our Principal to discuss your child's application.

Step 3: Access the Enrolment Pack

 

Step 4: Submit Your Application

  • Return your completed Foundation (Prep) enrolment application by Friday 25 July 2025.

 

Step 5: Notification of Outcome

  • You will receive notification of the outcome between Monday 28 July and Friday 8 August 2025.

  • If successful, please accept your enrolment offer by Friday 22 August 2025.

 

Step 6: Transition to School

  • Attend our information and transition sessions in Term 4, 2025, beginning in November. These sessions help your child feel confident and excited about starting school.

 

Step 7: First Day of School

  • Foundation (Prep) students begin school on Thursday, 29 January 2026.

 

Late Applications:
Applications submitted after 25 July 2025 will be processed as they are received, in line with the Department of Education’s Placement Policy.

 

 

Questions and Other Information – 2026 Foundation (Prep) Enrolments

 

Is my child eligible to start school in 2026?

Yes, if your child turns 5 years old by 30 April 2026, they are eligible to start Foundation (Prep). Schooling is compulsory once your child turns 6 years old.

 

When can I apply to enrol my child?
You can apply to enrol your child in a Victorian government primary school from Tuesday 22 April 2025 (the beginning of Term 2, 2025).

 

What is Foundation or Prep?
Foundation, also known as Prep, is the first year of primary school. It is a vital year that helps your child develop early literacy, numeracy, and social skills in a supportive environment.

 

What is the statewide Foundation enrolment timeline?
The Department of Education has introduced a clear timeline for enrolling in Foundation (Prep) across all government schools. This timeline helps ensure that the process is fair, simple, and consistent for all families.
